Peer Forum

Parking: There is FREE parking in the back of the building, with additional spaces available in the overflow lot on Court Street(Old Post Office) and metered parking available on the street.
Purpose: The Peer Forum will be a Community Dialogue – on mutual support around psychiatric medication withdrawal:
- to learn about some basic needs and supports for successful psychiatric drug tapering
- to discuss obstacles to organizing mutual support around psychiatric drug withdrawal
- to explore what mutual support groups might look like for psychiatric drug withdrawal
It is FREE and open to anyone working in peer support roles, interested in the role or in advocacy on human rights. You do not have to be a graduate of RSS, however, credits are available to graduates of the RSS Program. We are here to support each other to experience full participation in the community.
Guest Speaker Bio: Laura Delano-is the Executive director of Inner Compass Initiative (ICI), a non-profit organization providing information to facilitate more informed choices regarding all things “mental health” and resources to support people who wish to leave or bypass the mental health system. She also leads ICI’s the Withdrawal Project (TWP), a comprehensive initiative for safer psychiatric drug tapering and withdrawal. Laura has worked within the mental health system as an advocate and beyond the system as a consultant with individuals seeking help with medication withdrawal.
