Community Support Coordinator

The Community Support Coordinator is responsible for the support and education provided through AU as it relates to voice hearing and suicide prevention through the Connecticut Hearing Voices Network (CT-HVN), Alternatives to Suicide (CT Alt2Su) Network, and Maastricht Approach Project (MAP). The person in this position will provide administrative support to a collaborative of people who facilitate support groups, and provide 1:1 resources, for folks who hear voices and live with thoughts of suicide across the state. This includes administrative support and program coordination. The person is also responsible for raising the visibility of the networks by completing outreach activities and facilitating community education. The position requires a person who will prioritize sustainability through recruitment of facilitators, organizing trainings, maintaining communication with contractors and sites; along with providing monthly group co-reflections with folks facilitating groups.

FULL-TIME NON-EXEMPT EMPLOYMENT: 37.5 regularly scheduled hours per week, not to exceed 40 hours. $26.00 per hour. 180-day introductory period with performance evaluation at the conclusion of this period. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Provide administrative support to CT Alt2Su, CTHVN, and MAP, including financial processing of facilitator stipends and other operational expenses.
  • Maintain a current, and up-to-date, list of all CTHVN and CT Alt2Su groups including site contact information, location, time, and day.
  • Collaborate with the AU Communication & Marketing Specialist for promotion groups and trainings.
  • Generate marketing material and regularly update digital content across online platforms.
  • Publicize the networks through digital and in-person strategies.
  • Provide community educational offerings about CT Alt2Su, CTHVN and MAP, as scheduled
  • Recruit facilitators
  • Maintain a current, and up to date, CT Alt2Su and CTHVN facilitator list, including contact information.
  • Communicate weekly with facilitators, and offer support, including conflict resolution and mediation.
  • Coordinate one CT Alt2Su & CTHVN Support Group Facilitator Trainings each year.
  • Plan and host at least two CT HVN Support Group Facilitator meetings each year
  • Coordinate one MAP training, either in person or virtually
  • Host MAP Guide supervision in partnership with the National Paranoia Network.
  • Actively recruit MAP Guides
  • Plan and host at least two CT Alt2Su & CTHVN Support Group Facilitator meetings each year – one as an annual meeting and one continuing education.
  • Attend and actively participate in the CT Suicide Advisory Board, including the Lived Experience Subcommittee
  • Actively participate in ISPS-US
  • Maintain an active partnership with Wildflower Alliance
  • Facilitate up to 2 support groups weekly in Hartford and Rocky Hill
  • Meet all internal accountability standards.
  • Attend team meetings and trainings
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • 3+ years of progressive administrative experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Personal lived experience related to mental health, addiction, and/or trauma recovery
  • Experience with social media
  • Experience with program development and evaluation
  • Experience with project management
  • Recovery-oriented, inclusive, and leads by example
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent mediation and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skill, creative flexibility, and solution focused
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to receive critique
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
  • Must have a clean driving record, up to date motor vehicle insurance and current driver’s license.
  • Must have access to a reliable and clean vehicle for statewide travel.
