Title: Navigator

Position Type: Part-Time (2 positions, 10–15 hours per week)
Schedule: Weekdays (Monday through Friday, flexible hours)
Compensation: $22.00 per hour
Location: Downtown New Britain, CT (Office-based and field-based outreach)
Position Summary:
Navigators work alongside clients to create a personalized roadmap for achieving goals that build on each individual’s unique strengths. Navigators provide encouragement, guidance, and practical support as clients work toward greater financial stability, independence, and self-sufficiency.
Navigators help connect clients to community resources, assist in overcoming barriers, and support clients in staying motivated. This relationship-centered, compassionate role is split between an office setting and active weekday field outreach in downtown New Britain, empowering individuals directly where they are.
Key Responsibilities:
– Client Support: Guide clients toward achieving their self-determined stability and independence goals.
– Field Outreach: Conduct regular weekday street- and community-based outreach throughout downtown New Britain.
– Resource Connection: Link clients directly to local services, housing, and financial stability programs.
– Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely client records and progress notes in the office.
– Collaboration: Partner with staff, community organizations, and local service providers.
– Ethical Practice: Promote dignity, respect, and hope in all daily client interactions.
– Professional Growth: Participate actively in team trainings and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
– Language Skills: Bilingual proficiency (English and Spanish) required to serve the local community effectively.
– Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to build deep trust with diverse populations.
– Core Approach: Compassionate, nonjudgmental, relationship-focused, and highly empathetic attitude.
– Boundary Management: Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and professional ethical boundaries.
– Local Knowledge: Strong familiarity with the downtown New Britain community and resources.
– Experience: Prior work in human services, peer support, recovery, or community outreach preferred.
– Lived Experience: Personal lived experience with housing, financial, or recovery challenges is valued.
– Mobility: Ability to walk and stand for extended periods during outdoor field outreach.
