About the Bridger Program
The Bridger Program offers non-clinical peer support to individuals whose lives have been impacted by psychiatry, trauma, and/or addiction. Our team of Bridgers, certified peer specialists, draws from their personal lived experience and professional training to build authentic, safe relationships with individuals in transition. Bridgers provide six months of consistent, judgment-free support, fostering trust, mutual respect, and compassion.
We serve individuals throughout Connecticut who are navigating the mental health system, probate court, or those at risk of involvement with these systems. Our work is flexible and personalized, designed to meet participants where they are, without pressure or judgment.
Who We Support
Our Bridgers work directly with adults 18 and older facing difficult circumstances, including emotional distress, addiction, and trauma. We provide our services at no cost to individuals.
What We Offer
Bridgers use the pillars of choice, informed consent, and personal agency to guide individuals through their recovery and change processes. Our support is non-clinical, trauma-responsive, and rooted in compassion. We aim to build authentic relationships where individuals can share their experiences and make empowered decisions about their recovery journey. Bridgers assist individuals in connecting with natural supports and communities that best align with their needs and values.
Our Team
Our team is made up of individuals with lived experience in navigating difficult emotions, trauma, addiction, and/or unusual beliefs. Bridgers adhere to best practices in peer support, advocacy, and holistic wellness, incorporating SAMHSA’s 8 dimensions of wellness into our work.
