Serving Those Who Serve: Essential Competencies for the Peer Recovery Support Specialist
One event on Monday, December 16, 2019 at 9:00 am
Completely FREE and Open to the Public!
A 2 day Training with Veteran Amy B. Otzel, M.A., M.S., LPC
Amy B. Otzel is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Retired U.S. Army CTARNG Behavioral Health Sergeant, Iraq War combat theater Veteran, former Readjustment Counseling Therapist with the U.S. Department of Veterans’ Affairs, and past CT State Military Support Program Clinician.
This workshop intends to further inform the Peer & Recovery Support Specialist’s Military/Veteran perspective and skills repertoire empowering them to harness their lived experience and strengths in a culturally compatible way.
Following the Military Member’s contribution of selfless service and sacrifice to our collective needs for freedom and safety, attention to their health and healing is imperative. As this population increasingly seeks support within community settings, it is the Peer & Recovery Support Specialist’s call to action to assure operative responsiveness by way of reducing barriers, promoting accessibility to services, and mobilizing resources.
