JOIN RISE BE | Part-time Statewide Young Adult Warmline Operator
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Advocacy Unlimited, Inc. (AU) offers holistic, peer-led recovery education, advocacy, and support in the areas of mental health, addiction, and trauma. Our approach encourages individual growth, protects human rights, and informs systems transformation.  We use our direct lived experience to inform our approach.
Join Rise Be (JRB) is peer-run emerging adult initiative that operates through AU. JRB is dedicated to making the opportunity of recovery available to all young people across the state of Connecticut. We achieve this vision through sharing our experience to influence policy and practice, demonstrating the positive outcomes of recovery, and encouraging recovery during the transition to adulthood through self-exploration and personal growth.
One program of JRB is the Statewide Young Adult Warmline, which is a phone-based peer support line for young adults seeking resources as they navigate challenges and figure out who they are. The position of JRB part-time Young Adult Warmline operator is responsible for answering phone calls, providing peer support, and community outreach.
Warmline serves as a job readiness-training program that extends for up to 2 years from date of hire. AU is currently hiring five part-time Young Adult Warmline Operators.  Please complete the online application to apply.

PART-TIME NON-EXEMPT INTERIM EMPLOYMENT: Up to 24 Regularly Scheduled Hours Per week |Weekday, Evening and Weekend Shifts Available | $15 per hour | Professional Development | Weekly Supervision | 180-Day Review
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
-Answer calls
-Provide active listening and mutual support to people calling the Warmline
-Offer referrals and information on community resources to callers
-Complete and submit online call-log for each call answered
-Review and understand Warmline training material
-Attend Warmline staff meetings
-Attend weekly supervision
-Attend Monthly YAS Statewide Advisory Board Meetings
-Contribute to digital outreach as defined in the social media guidelines
-Carry out marketing through phone calls and emails to community groups
-Updating community contact lists
-Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Recovery Support Specialist, preferred.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience navigating mental health challenges, addiction, or trauma.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Recovery-oriented, flexible, culturally sensitive, and a team player.
Ability to work independently.
Basic understanding of Microsoft Office.
Ability to conduct internet searches.
Proficient communication skills, both written and verbal.
Public speaking, preferred.
Ability to travel at least twice a week to the Hartford Area
Access to a personal cell phone
Engagement with current social media platforms and relevancy with generational and developmental trends related to emerging adulthood.
